About E.L. Moore SFX Makeup

About Me:

My name is Emma Moore and I am a Richmond, Virginia-based SFX Makeup Artist with a passion for blood, gore, and wounds. After feeling like I hit a ceiling with traditional makeup, I was inspired by Netflix's Glow Up series to pursue make up with creepy aesthetics. Not only has SFX makeup provided entertainment, but it has provided me an outlet from trauma experienced on my day-to-day job. I have worked as a mental healthcare professional for the last 13 years for hospitals and community mental health. I have provided therapy, case management, and direct care to those facing eating disorders, complex trauma, and severe mental illness. After 13 years, I found that I am overwhelmingly proud of the time I have put into the field, but it is time for me to pursue a new career path for the sake of my own sanity.

Outside of work and SFX makeup, I enjoy gardening and listening to all types of music. I have a very loving home with my new husband. We have a pit bull and two cats. I enjoy to spend my time with them, spending time outside, and pole dancing exercise.

My goal is to return to a four-year university to gain my Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration Sculpture and Mixed Media. I would ultimately like to train to become an anaplastologist, or a professional who designs medical prosthetics. I would like to design facial, ocular, and somatic prosthetics for those who have lost body parts due to congenital-related or trauma-related reasons. Anaplastology would allow me to combine my interest in healthcare with my passion for SFX. To further support my career goals as an anaplastologist, I would also like to study biology, chemistry, and human anatomy.
